Oktapodi – beautiful CG animated short



How great is this short animated film about an octopus love affair / car chase by a group of Gobelins animation students?

Warning: It’s 60mb but worth every byte.

    Excellent! I love the Santorini-esque environment and the light/color contrasts. There is something about non-American anthropomorphizing that I find more appealing and not so schlocky than the typical Disney/Warner Bros/Pixar school of “let’s empathize with creatures.”. The morbidity and macabre really sell it.

    It is so great that I was up half the night downloading it by inches, installing plug-ins till I could finally watch it all. It was fascinating to study it frame by frame. Held it onscreen to watch it again in the morning. Then lost it by accident. Could that be why I can no longer link in to it? Are they tired of me hanging on with all tentacles? It is wonderful, and so is the behind the scenes short, and I want to thank everyone involved, and you for posting it. Why won’t that link work any more?

    That was so cool… just the kind of 3D animation I like; snappy timing and great stretch and squash (octopi… aww!). Such amazing colors too!
