Pocoyo

I don’t know much about this show other than it is a pre-school animated series currently being broadcasted in the UK, but I am numbed by its cuteness.

Update: Several readers have been kind enough to share more information about this show:
According to Miguel Porto, the show is animated by Zinkia Entertainment and Drawn reader Karramarro has been kind enough to share the link to the official Pocoyo blog. And Lee reports that the show is narrated by Stephen Fry. Thanks for the info nice people!

My one year old daughter loves it and I do too. When I am on baby duties and have to sneak out of the room to do something I leave her with the dvd on and she thoroughly appreciates. It’s fantastically animated. On this particular episode she always makes a “ghe” sound when Pocoyo starts blowing his trumpet.

I think it is not only great animation but also great conceptual design. I really love it.

My toddler loves this show too! I like that it isn’t hyper-speed, over-stimulating, shout, shout, SHOUT at the kids like so many of the kids shows today. I also really appreciate the narration by Stephen Fry of “Jeeves and Wooster” fame.

One of the few shows that my 2yr old watches that I can stomach. Love the simplicity of the show’s design & presentation. Nice Stephen Frears narration too.

I’ve never seen this before, but I love it! Makes me want to have kids just so I have an excuse to watch it. It’s slightly hypnotic — such beautiful character designs and animation.

I should also mention that the show is broadcast in Canada as well. a href=”http://treehousetv.com/parents/tvShows/pocoyo/index.asp?showid=52″>Treehouse TV airs it fairly regularly (Rogers 65 in Toronto).

    This is kind of awesome.

What a really inventive, beautifully designed show. It’s really engaging, and, as you mentioned, kind of hypnotic.

This show is so cute it make my heads explode. It’s funny that it follows the unspoken animated tradition of having the duck as the cranky character.

My daughter, however, thinks it’s boring. :(

The copy of the show the youtube clip uses was actually taken from Australian tv. (I can see the ABC Kids symbol down in the corner there) It’s shown on both the analogue and digital ABC channels.

I’d have to say this is my new favourite kids show! However it’s still good to see the old claymation’d Postman Pat still on tv.

Pocoyo show is also aired by Discovery Kids Brasil. If I had children, I would allow and recommend them to see it! (^_^)

Is there a production date? One of my favorite kids shows here in Canada is “Poko Reel”:

    They look rather similar.

I discovered Pocoyo a while back and have been singing it’s praises to everyone I know. I even bought a region 2 DVD just so i could see more(I watch it on my computer). I haven’t found a profesional artist or average person that doesn’t love it. My 3 year old loves it too. They are trying very hard to bring Pocoyo to the US. I predict that when they finally get a US showing that it will be a hit beyond thier target audience. I can see all the college kids wearing Pocoyo and Pato t-shirts.

Just a word to say that “Pocoyo” in spanish means something like “A small amount of myself”.
We all love the characters (although this style of animation is seen as being a bit “japanese” sometimes).
All the crew’s first and last names are catalan. Good work!

my husband did some “research” (our son loves pocoyo so…) and he read some where that the name Pocoyo came from the daughter of the producer or creator…whe she said the drawing of the pocoyo she said … es un niño poco yo… what she tried to say was… es un niño como yo… but it came out wrong ( he is a kid like me)
