If this book is still around, I’m sure it’s going to sell out at comic conventions this summer.
Instead of issuing standard CD sleeves for their debut EP, the rock band, Ragni, worked with Karl Kerschl (Superman, Teen Titans) to produce a 72-page wordless graphic novel that works on the same themes as the music. You can see a couple sample pages here.
Full disclosure: I’m very good friends with the artists in question – which also means I was one of the first to see how gorgeous this book really is. It’s a looser, more emotive style than Karl is known for – and I love every page. (The book and the CD are available on the Ragni site for USD$12.99+s/h).
The songs are stunning too. Epic in scope, you can hear most of them on Ragni’s MySpace page – somewhat reminiscent of Sigur Ros or gybe!.
