Rains animated short trailer

I love the trailer for Rains, a new animated short film from David Coquard-Dassault. The expansive urban backgrounds and cartoony characters remind me of Jean Jacques Sempé‘s stuff.

Looks like the film is currently doing the festival rounds and just won a Jury prize at the Clermont-Ferrand short film festival in France.

    I was lucky enjoy to see the whole thing when it showed as part of the NFB’s World Animation Day. It is fantastic!
    I loved how he creates so much atmosphere and tension with simple lines. The sound design is great too. I can’t wait til I can own a copy.

    This is AWESOME! Graphics and the feel of atmosphere illustrated by natural sounds. Reminds me of “She and Her Cat” by Makoto Shinkai.
