Ryan Larkin (1943-2007)

Ground-breaking Canadian animator, Ryan Larkin passed away last Wednesday, February 14, succumbing to lung cancer. Larkin, whose troubled life was the subject of last year’s Oscar-winning animated short, Ryan, was just beginning to make a come-back, animating a series of bumpers for MTV.

Ryan was a fixture on the streets of Montreal and I can say that people everywhere in this city are grieving his passing.

    I believe it was Lung Cancer and not Brain Cancer that took his life. This according to wikipedia and theglobeandmail.

    fisk – thanks a million for the correction – i’ve changed the text. i knew he had lung cancer, but had read on CB that brain cancer was the final culprit.

    it puts the above photo in a bit of a new light.
