Salesman Pete and The Amazing Stone

Salesman Pete Trailer from Salesman Pete on Vimeo.

I am beginning to think that a major export of France is insanely talented animation students. In support of this theory is a student film due to be completed next month: Salesman Pete and The Amazing Stone.

Why can't we have a full-length feature that looks like this, instead of the uncanny valley that is Shrek and its ilk?

Also: is that Oktapodi I spied in the back of the truck?

Wish someone had the capitol to fund a proper French animation studio for full features. The quality of work that keeps coming out of these guys in Paris, Barcelona, and all over Europe is just awe-inspiring.

Is it just me or did he credit his son at the end of the film just for being his son? That so rocks. Unless “son” means something in French I don't know about. I agree, a feature looking like this would be great. Interesting balance between hand drawn and ca look.

I agree. It's nice to see someone experimenting with the style of animation versus hashing out the same old stuff.
