Drawn

Checking out the latest in children’s books recently I came across Ook the Book, from Chronicle, with fantastic illustrations by Shannon McNeill. Curious, I did a search for the artist to see if she had a web presence. I hit pay dirt: little drawings. Shannon has illustrated several other books, all equally done in her exquisitely quaint and quirky style. One thing that caught my eye: Shannon features a step by step process on how she got Ook the Book done. It’s always fascinating to see how the professionals do their thing and this is no exception.

Besides the books, some of my favorite work featured on Shannon’s site are found in her illustrations section. I love her black ink drawings juxtaposed with brilliant color. Great characters, too.
