Steven Burke

Beautiful and bizarre ink drawings by Steven Burke.

(via Art Dorks)

Update: Steven would like it known that he admits that some of his drawings are influenced by Jeff Ladouceur’s work.

    Jason Pulz,
I just had a look at your work and you are no position to comment on ANYONE’S work. You are a VERY poor man’s Chris Ware, and THAT’S giving you too much credit. Oh, the irony.
    Fred
    p.s. Steven, nice drawings.

No seriously people. These are great drawings and all, but come on, the guy is completely and utterly using Ladouceur’s drawing style and imagery. I’m really curious what Steven’s opinion on this “Ladouceur” style is. If you’re reading this, please let us know, thanks.

And I think it’s really interesting how he’s so completely mimicked Ladouceur to the point of having created new compositions that while being unique drawings onto themselves, still appear like they came from the imagination of Ladouceur. Very strange.

    Hi everyone,

I really didn’t think this would cause such a mess!

The part called “black ink” is a compilation of drawings that are for sure influenced by Jeff Ladouceur. I really like what he does, and took it for kind of a “master” those last months, in this part of my blog. I am young, so still influenced (hopefully), and i never took me as an artist, or ever said i was the inventor of this way to draw (by the way for those who could be interested, i am also influenced by Baree Mc Gee…)

I think that everyone is somehow influenced by someone, so goes the logic, until he or she finds something really particular and personnal, that is done with onesty and truth, and maybe not influenced but with references.

    Anyway thank you for interest…
