I don’t know, I was pretty impressed. The idea that you can make something on a grand scale with a backyard budget is really encouraging. I’d like to see someone make a small, independant epic some day with a digital video camera and a handful of friends like these guys did, but feature length.
I also like the idea that aside from the compositing, it was real actors and not digital stand-ins. CGI seems to be the most obvious way to make a crowd when you haven’t got one, but as far as I can tell, the only CGI ellement was the boat.
