The 100 Artists Project

100 Artists LogoBen Rollman, my fellow hobo (and robo) artist, has undertaken a monumental task. He’s overseeing the 100 Artists Project, a non-profit collaborative effort.

There are two phases: one involving a sketchbook being sent to 100 artists (the progress of which can be tracked on the site) and a single book which will be assembled from 100 other drawings sent directly to Ben (several pages of which can be previewed on the site). Both will be sold and the proceeds will be donated to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and the Hero Initiative.

There’s still room to participate, so check it out. I can’t wait to get my hands on that sketchbook.

Ben here. I wanted to mention that all the information for the project can be found on the site. The Concept, Rules and FAQ page should have everything.

There’s been a HUGE amount of interest, so much so I’m having a hard time keeping up, but I wanted to say that the majority of comments coming in say something like “Please approve me” or “Please let me know when I can start” or “Do you have openings?”

Let me assure folks that there is no approval process. The sign up form is more for me to keep track of people who are interested and storing shipping information. If you want to participate, all you have to do is draw something and send it in. The faster we get art, the faster we can sell it and the faster the funds get their funds. Also keep in mind the 2nd part, the Big Mailer, will be sent to those who’ve sent in art already, but the wait will be enormous. It’s a long slog so don’t expect the sketchbook right away.

I’ve stopped replying to each email, the Thank You page after you fill out the form should have a lot of info, but if you have any other questions, you can ask me any time.

    Thanks!
