Amanda Visell The Girls Productions

The Girls Productions are Amanda Visell and Michelle Valigura, two women who’ve worked in stop-motion animation for the past 6 years as fabricators and sculptors. Now they are off doing their own thang and they are doing it well. Take a gander. Amanda does the artsy stuff, and Michelle does everything else.

In fact, Amanda has a solo show coming up July 9th at Lunar Boy Gallery in Astoria, Oregon. Also, she has some limited edition prints that will be available soon through Excellent Virtu.

Thanks for the link – excellent work on their site. Some of the illustrations, particularly the images titled ‘Caveman’ and ‘Undertaker Band’, have coloring and character styles that remind me of the designs by Ward Kimball and Tom Oreb for the Disney “Toot Whistle Plunk Boom” short. Very nice.

If you like Amanda Visell’s work, be sure to check out her lunchbox the Hot Lunch Artshow in Hollywood. In my opinion, it’s one of the best featured. A select group of artists were given a plain metal lunch box…what they did with them are on display on at the La La Land Gallery until Novemeber 1st. This show is not to be missed: http://lalalandgallery.com/

[...] Amanda of the previously mentioned The Girls Productions writes to me letting me know that she and Michelle have started up a new blog where they’ll post their most recent artwork, as well as updates on any upcoming shows. With only fives posts in, there’s already some great work shown, including this beautiful painting depicting that most touching moment in DUMBO. Oh, and there’s some plush action going on, too. [...]
