Les McClaine has an interesting tutorial on how to “antique” your images and make them look like ragged old comic book covers.
And another step-by-step Photoshop tutorial which shows us how to get that great old colour-halftone newsprint look: How to color like a little old lady.
Also, if you haven’t read McClaine’s Life with Leslie diary-comic, you really should. At turns tragic and comic, sweet and sour, he drew the strip nearly every day for two years and has it posted on his site for free.
Also, don’t miss McClaine’s Hergé-inspired web-comic, Johnny Crossbones, which was nominated for an Eisner Award in 2005.
