The making of the Macy’s Day Parade poster

santatmacys.jpg

It’s always a treat seeing the behind-the-scenes processes behind people’s work. Dan Santat (previously) was asked by the Macy’s committee to design this year’s Macy’s Day Parade poster, and has written up a step-by-step explanation of his process, from sketches to final poster.

Now that the day is nearing, Dan is also hoping some of our New York readers might be able to take pictures of the poster in the wild for him. You can contact him through his blog.

Sound the trumpets, Macy’s heralds the innocence of youth in us and we share that with young ones. With “Joe Cool” leading the parade you cannot go wrong. Love the way the process of making the poster, it’s always fun watching how others approach a project.
