This is amazing! This is my first introduction to this stuff. Reminds me a little of Michael Kupperman’s sense of humor, but the art’s a lot more accomplished. He can emulate just about any style! He got Edward Gorey down to the lettering. There desperately needs to be a book collection of this stuff.

Yes yes yes. We all love him blah blah blah. However, there is often the sign of wear and tear among really funny people where they start to resort to base sexual fantasies and the like because some of the earlier spark is being driven back by pressure to deliver. The recent boy scout strip, for example, is not funny – just seedy. I am not being some freaky killjoy, but pointing out a basic thing. Nicholas has a superb talent but must be careful that he doesn’t just resort to these easier methods of getting material out. I am commenting as a sympathetic and respectful artist and not a some hateful smash-monger. His best stuff is good solid observation where a craziness takes over. More of that please, less of the other.
