Unusual technical images of WWII technology

This is site is great: featuring technical cutaway drawings of submarines, ships, aircraft and arms.

In the Second World War people at home with loved ones spread far away around the world with the forces were fed a diet, often government backed, of “how it works” or “how we will win” technical information leaflets. Very often these would have contained superb cut away and sectioned diagrams, showing the “insides” or as was said at the time “the works!” of the machines that were winning the war for us!

Another “content over style” web page from Steve Johnson.

you know.. im actually more secure when i understand technically whats going on.
i wonder if they did something simillar nowadays.. would people have less fear?
i guess its not far off from our modern military video games.
if you can wrap your head around the angles of war.. things are less scary?

I saw that you have a page that discusses patent-related resources at http://drawn.ca/2005/12/13/unusual-technical-images-of-wwii-technology/. I wanted to suggest adding http://www.freepatentsonline.com to the page. This web site has free PDF downloading (instead of having to page through TIFFs like at the US PTO). It is by far the best free patent searching site.
