War Of The Worlds

wotw

Except for the original radio broadcast, every single movie adaptation so far of War Of The Worlds has been pretty sucky (Tom Cruise, I’m lookin’ at YOU!). Well, here’s where comics come in to kiss it and make it all better.

Darkhorse has posted an absolutely stunning “e-comic” adaptation of WOTW, free for viewing, as adapted by writer Ian Edgington with art by D’Israeli. It’s 125 pages long, and you’ll probably want to own a copy when you finish reading it. Which you may do here.

I’d also recommend Edginton and D’Israeli’s WOTW sequels, “Scarlet Traces” and “The Great Game.”

In my humble opinion, D’Israeli is one of the best artists working in comics right now.

    What a beautiful translation!
As a fan of steampunk, I loved the work done on the ” League of Extraordinary Gentlemen ” cocerning the renderings of the Martians and their machines.
This rendition was equally original, and I will rush to get this book adaptation.
    OOOOLAAAAAAA!

i second sopelana’s comment. ‘Scarlet traces’ and ‘The Great game’ are set after Well’s novel’s timeline. I’m eager to see their take on the source material itself.

I’d also recommend Edgard Pierre Jacobs’ version of War Of The Worlds. It’s not really a BD, it’s more an illustrated version of the novel. Beautifully illustrated I might add.
