Watch Mike Mignola’s The Amazing Screw-On Head

The Sci Fi Network’s website is showing the entire pilot for Hellboy-creator Mike Mignola’s The Amazing Screw-On Head (previously discussed here).

The animation is a bit rigid and minimal, but perhaps that suits Mignola’s instantly-recognizable drawing style. The series features the voices of Paul Giamatti and David Hyde Pierce.

Great pilot! Glad to see something slightly, ehm, new in tv carton programming! I do hope they adopt this series … too wierd not to become a classic …

Mike Mignola’s work is outstanding. It reminds me of a more stylized Alex Toth with all the heavy shadows and stuff that early JQ is great looking. I’m glad to see somthing thats not modeled after Anime. Not that I don’t love some anime from time to time.

To be honest, I wasn’t that taken with it. I guess I can’t like ‘em all.

SciFi Channel was faced with the conundrum… Do we run this, or reruns of “saved by the bell”.

Maybe they can take up the slack from Adult Swim.

You know, this is quite possibly one of the smoothest translations of a comicbook to animation that I’ve ever seen. They captured Mignola’s style perfectly!

Man, I’m really glad to hear *something* about this project. I got a poster at SDCC last year, and have heard nothing since. I think it really captured Mignola’s style, though I’d like to see a little more of Screw-on Head. I guess the Sci-Fi channel isn’t so confident in it, and wants to see if viewers would be interested. I know that I am.

I’m not sure where their lack of confidence is coming from here. Aside from Battlestar Galactica, a lot of their programming really tanks. This is the strongest thing I’ve seen them do outside of BSG and possibly that second Dune mini.

Recently Stan Lee has whored himself out for, “you can be a superhero” a “reality” tv show where Stan judges contestants superhero worthiness. What were they thinking?

Please Sci Fi channel, bring me screw-on head!
