Who knew cleaning could be so fun

The Subconscious Art of Graffiti Removal is a documentary about graffiti removal. Fellow blogger Ward Jenkins shares his thoughts on the subject over on his blog. Being someone who has had very limited exposure to graffiti (much less the process of cleaning it), I found the write up to be really fascinating.

    I saw the film as part of the Baja to Vancouver exhibit. Unlike Ward, who seems unsure whether he saw a work of satire, I thought it was hilarious. The film does have a point beyond just poking fun at the over-analysis of art – they point out that the city’s budget for graffiti removal far exceeds funding for the arts themselves.

    Definitely recommended viewing – it hardly matters whether you’re into graffiti or not.
