Yuko Shimizu

If the only illustration Yuko Shimizu ever drew was this cowboy wrangling cheeseburgers, I’d still post a link to her site. Luckily for us, she has created much more. Her work appears in small publications you’ve likely never heard of (the New Yorker, Rolling Stone, SPIN, Playboy, GQ, Entertainment Weekly…)

(thanks, peacay!)

This reminds me of Trevor Brown’s stuff, I searched the site and did not find an entry for him, so I guess I will link to him,

I knew I’d seen her work before – a style like hers sticks out in my mind. So when I went to her website, I was blown away. Amazing. Really fantastic how she blends the fantasy with a concept to help deliver a message.

    Hamburger Roundup Art

We rarely show you how hamburgers have contributed to modern art, but today that changes. I make no promises for the future (as I don’t know how deep the burger’s art history runs), but the piece above is by…

Yuko’s totally one of my favourites, ever since she used to do illustrations for the Village Voice’s Elements of Style column. Lot’s of sexy girls, japanese references and gorgeous attention to detail.

I had her during one of those high school summer art programs at SVA two years; she was fantastic! Her stuff certainly does have a lot of style.
