John Martz

As a child, I spent most of my time drawing cartoons, reading books, and living in emotionally unhealthy fantasy worlds. As an adult, I am somewhat hairier.

My creative career began in graphic design, creating websites for the music industry, which lead to several years as a broadcast designer and animator for a large television network in Toronto. I have been a freelance illustrator and cartoonist since 2005. My work has been published by Hallmark Cards, Nickelodeon Magazine, JibJab, chickaDEE Magazine, and in Flight vol. 5.

My work is the distillation of a childhood spent absorbing the work of Charles Schulz, Jim Henson, Hanna-Barbera, Rankin & Bass, Richard Scarry, MAD Magazine, Charles Addams, and Chuck Jones.

At my website you’ll find my portfolio, comics, warm-up drawings, and font creations.
