Based on the writings of Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, this stop motion short from director Amanda Strong tells the story of a young Anishinaabe artist named Biidaaban and a 10,000-year-old shapeshifter named Sabe, who join forces to reclaim the maple trees from a suburban Ontario neighbourhood by harvesting their sap in the wee hours of the morning. It is a uniquely modern fable that speaks to the reclamation of Indigenous land and ceremonies in Canada.
