Peripheria

2015, David Coquard-Dassault

We last saw David Coquard-Dassault's work when I posted his 2008 short Rains. Here we are treated to similar atmospheric shots of looming apartment complexes and empty streets, but instead of people huddling together to keep out of the rain, the city in Peripheria is populated with roaming packs of wild dogs, fighting for survival. Gone is the charming humour and sense of shared experience, and in its place: urban decay, desolation, and brutality. Happy Monday!
