Cory Godbey’s Ticket

Portland Studio’s Cory Godbey has recently released Ticket, a book about “…a girl, her hat, and the curious events which transpire” told through twenty-eight gorgeously embellished watercolor paintings. You can read a behind-the-scenes account of the project on Cory’s blog here and you can take a peek at some of the spreads by reading this post or by watching the trailer that has been posted to YouTube. Ticket can be purchased through the Portland Studios store for $12.

Portland Studios Animated

Check out this beautiful video for musician Steven Delopoulos, lovingly crafted by Chris Koelle and Cory Godbey at Portland Studios. I haven’t seen a high quality version of this personally, but seeing how good this compressed YouTube version looks, I can imagine that it is a stunning sight to see.

Portland Studios Store

Brannon McAllister, Chris Koelle, Justin Gerard, and Cory Godbey, all in-house illustrators and designers for Portland Studios, recently pooled their talents together to form a number of original t-shirt designs that are now available for purchase through the new Portland Studios Store. Buy one and do your part to wipe out bad fashion world wide.

The Photoshop Experiment

The Photoshop Experiment is a new blog by super talent Cory Godbey. Through TPE, Cory gives us a very in depth look at how he works in Adobe Photoshop to create his charming illustrations. What’s more, Cory has hinted that there is a brand new tutorial coming down the pike in the very near future. Be prepared to bookmark this site; it is one URL that you won’t want to lose.

Portland Studios

Portland Studios

Surprisingly, Portland Studios is not in Portland, Oregon. Consisting of several artists proficient in various mediums and styles, this collective from Greenville, South Carolina “provides illustration, animation and design to clients in the publishing, advertising, and entertainment industries.” Some very nice work presented in the portfolio section. Take a gander. Artists include Justin Gerard, Cory Godbey, Chris Koelle (featured above), and… hey, whattya know — Drawn’s own Jared Chapman. They’ve done work for Harper Collins, Houghton-Mifflin, Oxford University Press, and the prestigious MAD Magazine.
