Here’s a brilliant idea. Dan Meth put together a slideshow to music of all the cartoons that have influenced his work: My Influences. I’m tempted to copy his idea, and I just might, but it would look nearly identical to this one. Looks like Dan and I watched and read a lot of the same things growing up.
One of the standouts of Dan Meth’s seminal animated series The Meth Minute 39 (previously) was Dan & Mark Vitelli’s bickering duo of Penalty and Lloyd, a pair who argue about, well… anything on their talk show, Nite Fite. Jeaux Janovsky writes to tell me that these guys finally have their own series now and I’m happy to report that the timing and humor from the earlier shorts is still intact. I’m digging “Sell Out“, where the two discuss the issues of The Who selling out while at the same time selling out themselves. Works for me. New episodes every Thursday at 11 EST.
My Frederator peeps are hooking us up with Dan Meth’s next installment of The Meth Minute 39 twenty-four hours before it’s officially released (sorry, I’m a little late in posting…). Titled, “Sex Machine” — how Dan combines James Brown with The Matrix is, well, hilarious. Looking forward to the next 37.
