If Global Warming is Real…

No matter where you stand on the climate change issue, hopefully this blog will convince you once and for all that someone really needs to come up with a better joke about it.

Faucet Face

faucetface

Nice. Faucet Face is offering glass tap water bottles designed by some of my favourite illustrators/designers: Ray Fenwick, Anneka Tran, and Seb Lester. The bottles are currently available for pre-order.

Challenge Your World

Enjoy this short promo for yesterday’s Challenge Your World event in Montreal. Created by Yann Benedi and Céline Desrumaux, I like the combination of 2D and 3D techniques, and the nod to An Inconvenient Truth.

Check out Céline’s blog for some process drawings.

They Might Be Giants – Electric Car

Husband and wife team Max Porter & Ru Kuwahata of Tiny Inventions created this music video for They Might Be Giants. It will be included on their Here Comes Science DVD.

TMBG have made a fantastic transition from unlikely weirdo indie popsters into a successful children’s act, and I couldn’t be more pleased, especially in how they’ve embraced animation and puppetry in their work.

Beautiful Trash: mini art books from recycled scrap

booksofbeautifultrash

Over at Illustration Friday, artist Rama Hughes writes about a found art project he does with his students called Beautiful Trash:

At the beginning of the school year, I invited my students to contribute to my Collection of Beautiful Trash. I promised to use it for an end of the year surprise. Over the course of the year, they got really excited about the quality of their trash. As soon as the school year ended, I browsed through the detritus, selected the most compelling items, and bound the beautiful trash into these three volumes.

My own collection of beautiful trash starts now!

The Agronaut

The Agronaut (clever title!) is a charming animated short by Polish studio GS Animation. The tale of a colonist trying to sustain human life on another planet is told without dialogue, and with a great sense of timing and style.

The Battery Menace

I enjoyed this collage-type animation The Battery Menace by Mysh and Mashko.

Ecofont uses 20% less ink

“Eco Sans” is a new font by the Dutch communications firm, Spranq.

How much of a letter can be removed while maintaining readability? Apparently punching little circles out of each letter is the answer, resulting in a font that uses up to 20 percent less ink.
