The Secret Saturdays Premiere

Drawn’s own Jay Stephens‘ new animated series, The Secret Saturdays, premieres this weekend on Teletoon (in Canada)!

We missed the Friday premiere, but it repeats Sunday at 8:30AM. Get your cereal ready.

Jay’s stuff rocks. I’d love to see some of the concept art behind this show.

Metal for Monsters

I’m happy to announce the impending launch of this project. Metal for Monsters is a run of limited-edition stainless steel pendants being sold to raise money for UNICEF.

Each pendant features an illustration of a monster or creepy creature by some very talented folks including Drawn! contributors Jay Stephens, Adam Koford, and myself. The official launch date is October 1st, but you can pre-order the pendants now. Each pendant costs $81 and is limited to 100 pieces. The lineup of artists includes: S.britt, Stefan G. Bucher, Jon Burgerman, Anna Chambers, Justin Hillgrove, Adam Koford, John Martz, Jay Stephens, and Brian Taylor.

Name That Toon

Our own Jay Stephens needs your help:

I’ll admit it, I’m upset. News from way up high at Cartoon Network is that we have to change the name of our animated series from ‘The Secret Saturdays’, a title that everybody I’ve ever spoken to loves (including very nearly everyone at Cartoon Network itself!), to ‘The Secret Adventures Of Zak Saturday’, which sounds remarkably similar to ‘The Sweet Life Of Zack and Cody’ or ‘The Life and Times Of Juniper Lee’. Ugh. The worst part is that the new title isn’t as good at reflecting what our show is really about… it’s like calling the Fantastic Four ‘Johnny Storm and his amazing Friends’. Please let CN know which title you like best here. Thanks.

Announcing the Secret Saturdays!

Join me congratulating our own Jay Stephens whose in-development show with Cartoon Network has been officially picked up for 26 half-hour episodes! Here’s the skinny:

Jay Stephens has created a new comedy/action series, in which Doc, Drew and Zak Saturday are a family of world-saving adventure scientists called The Secret Saturdays. Living in a hidden base, they are part of a network of scientists who protect against all the hidden and terrifying things in this world. To The Saturdays, ordinary folktales aren’t just legends — they are real-life mysteries and adventures. Traveling from the hot Gobi Desert to the icy Marianas Trench, they explore ancient temples and bottomless caves and tangle with twisted villains like the masked madman V.V. Argost and his half-human/half-giant spider.

Don’t forget to keep visiting Jay’s blog for all kinds of monstery goodness!

Jay’s new site

Hey hey! Drawn!’s own Jay Stephens has given his website a brand new makeover! In addition to a new mouth-watering gallery of illustrations, he also showcases his major works like Tutenstein and the Land of Nod, and offers up a checklist of his comics works so you can easily complete your Jay Stephens collection.

And the Emmy goes to…?

Congratulations to our own Jay Stephens whose monstrous creation Tutenstein has been nominated for another Daytime Emmy Award! Best of luck, Jay!

MonsteramaMart

Our own Jay Stephens has opened up a small online store to support his blog Monsterama (which you visit regularly, right?). Waiting for you are t-shirts, buttons, and prints of Jay’s very own cute creeps (and a particularly awesome Dick Briefer lightswitch cover). Visit MonsteramaMart.

Monsterama!

Just in time for Halloween, our own Jay Stephens has started up his own solo blog called Monsterama that he hopes you’ll visit. Jay loves ghoulish, creepy, monstery, cartoony things more than anyone I know (seen here is his very own Tutenstein), so it’s a safe bet that this is going to rock. He calls it his “dank cellar for his collection of kooky weirdness” and a direct way for him to deliver news about his own ghoulish experiments. It’s only been live a day, and it’s already overflowing with great stuff! Nice work, Jay!
