Free Twitter birds

Twitter Blog Birds

Our own Luc Latulippe has created twenty-four Twitter bird illustrations that he’s offering up for free under a Creative Commons license for anyone who needs a Twitter illustration for their blog or website — including unflattened vector versions. Score!

Perhaps this will stop people from nicking Twitteriffic’s application icon under the assumption it’s Twitter’s official logo. The Icon Factory’s Gedeon Maheux explains how their app’s little blue bird gets around.

Illustration book plagiarizes dozens of artists

Yesterday illustrator Darren Di Lieto, who also runs the wonderful Little Chimp Society illustration site, discovered that the work of dozens of illustrators, along with the interviews he conducted with them for the LCS, have been unceremoniously plagiarized in a 350-page book being sold online for $100.

Our own Luc Latulippe is one of the illustrators whose interview and illustrations were ripped off, and he has posted a detailed write-up of the situation at his blog, and encourages everyone to spread the word about this, as the publisher and distributors of the book are elusive if not entirely impossible to contact.

Please also read Darren’s blog post about the situation where he also links to a gallery of photographs of the entire plagiarized book.

Please help spread the word!

Small business accounting solutions

lucmoney.jpgOur own Luc Latulippe has put together this informative and handy look at the various small business accounting solutions available to us freelancers — both stand-alone software applications and web-based services. When I needed a new invoicing system, Luc was the first person I went to, and his advice was invaluable. If you’re struggling with your own bookkeeping, it’s definitely worth a read.

Luc interviewed on LCSV4

Our own Luc Latulippe is the latest interview subject over at LCSV4. Read what Luc’s been up to, and what he’ll be up to next. Luc is a hard-working illustrator’s illustrator, so pay attention; I’d listen to anything he has to say.

Jupiter Project show in Chicago – one week left

In Chicago I got a chance to visit the DVA Gallery to check out the Jupiter Project show featuring work by several expert illustrators (including our own Luc Latulippe). The show continues for just one more week, so be sure to check it out. You can see the pieces on the gallery’s website, but of course they look so much better in person!

Welcome, Luc!

Allow me to take this opportunity to officially welcome illustrator and all-around great guy Luc Latulippe to the Drawn! family. Luc is the latest addition to the star-studded roster of Drawn! contributors. Welcome, Luc!

52 Monsters

This is pretty awesome. Fans of Luc Latulippe may recall that he started a project a year or two ago called 52 Monsters in which subscribers to his newsletter would get a new monster illustration every week. Luc unfortunately got sidetracked (shhh… he’s sensitive about it) and never finished all 52, but he’s announced on his site (which since we last mentioned him, has turned into a blog) that he will finish all 52 illustrations or die trying. The new monsters (including some from the original project) are available on his Flickr page.
