Submissions are open for Mail Me Art 2, the sequel to the highly successful Mail Me Art project in which artists from around the world turned enevlopes, packages, and the mail itself into artwork. There are monthly prizes, a planned exhibition, and quite possibly a second book of postal art in the works. Submissions are open until April 2010.
Check out a recent submission by Tommy Kane.
The first Mail Me Art book is a solid collection of work by a variety of illustrators and artists, professional and amateur alike, all of them creating work just for the fun of it.
Urban Sketchers is a new blog showcasing a small community of artists around the world who draw the people and places of the cities where they live and travel to. It’s a sister site to the Urban Sketches Flickr group.

Tommy Kane revisited

Tommy Kane (previously) has a new website dedictated to just his illustrations and paintings. Love those sketchbooks!
Tommy Kane is an art director who actually draws and paints himself (how novel!). His print advertising has a decidedly illustrative feel to it, and I love his paintings of pop culture icons, like good old Barney Fife seen here. I may like his journals the most, however… nothing like a quality sketchbook, is there?
And of course, what’s a creative individual these days without a blog?
